The Show in 2013
Extension work on Hall 6 adds 6,000 m² of exhibition space formerly taken up by the open esplanade. This extension forms part of the further renovation and expansion of Palexpo's floor space for the 'Vision 20XX' project.
This electric/petrol hybrid supercar, unveiled to the world by British manufacturer McLaren at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show, boasts a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 (737 hp(M)) mid-engine coupled to a 179-hp(M) electric engine (CO2 emissions of 200 g/km) and a 96-kg battery that is fully rechargeable in two hours. The seven-gear dual-clutch transmission, the DRS wing and the brake system developed by the Japanese OEM Akebono are just some of the features taken over from Formula 1. The manufacturer indicated in advance that production of this vehicle, with its advertised top speed of 394 km/h and 0-100 km/h standing-start acceleration in 2.8 seconds, would be limited to only 375 units.
Qoros 3 Berline
The new Chinese brand Qoros presented itself and its first standard car, the Qoros 3 Sedan, at the 83rd Geneva International Motor Show in 2013, ahead of the commercial launch of this elegant compact C-segment saloon car in China in the second half of that year. The vehicle's dynamic shape and cosy interior are largely inspired by German automotive design and rival those of any of their European competitors. And that is not all, with the engineers' efforts in terms of active and passive safety being rewarded as the Qoros 3 Sedan achieved the maximum rating of 5* in the EuroNCAP crash test.
