Audi: New A3 – Sporty and dynamic!

A first look at the new A3, expected to debut at the GIMS.

Audi chose to unveil first images of the new A3 which will make its worldwide debut at the GIMS 2020. After 8 years of good and loyal service, the current generation of the compact car from Ingolstadt - the third - is stepping down. It was time! The Mercedes A Class and BMW’s 1 Series were redesigned 1 and 2 years ago respectively and competition is tough in this category.

Images of the camouflaged prototype give us a glimpse of many details, for example two twin tailpipes hinting at an upcoming S3 version.

Overall, the styling has evolved, but remains true to itself. As to be expected for a model, like the Golf from the cousins in Wolfsburg, which is so popular and guarantees a significant volume of sales. It has a station wagon shape and a third side window. The front and back-end use stylistic elements introduced on models recently launched by the brand.

It’s in terms of architecture that Audi promises to deliver plenty of excitement. The new A3 is built on the MQB Evo platform and has Quattro all-wheel drive directed by an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, managed electronically. Torque can be applied up to 100% to the back axle according to driving conditions and the driving mode selected. It’s equipped with adaptive damping suspension and variable ratio power steering.

Using the Audi Drive Select feature the driver can choose the preferred driving mode - comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual. Each mode changes how the vehicle behaves on the road with variations possible in accelerator response, power steering, suspension and all-wheel drive.

The public can discover the new Audi A3 at the Audi stand during the GIMS 2020 starting 5 March 2020.
