Formula E: New Racing Car for Season 7
Aerodynamic development of the single-seater for 2020-2021.
As from the 2020-2021 season, when Formula E will become a world championship in its own right, like Formula 1, WEC or WRC, the 12 participating teams will be entitled to a revised and improved single-seater.
The Gen2 single-seater, introduced last season, will be extensively redesigned for season seven. Regarded as too solid and enabling too much contact between racing drivers, the “Gen2 EVO” has a slimmer spoiler and no front wheel arches. This should calm the passions of the competitors.
The rear hood features a dorsal fin to better direct the flow towards a rear spoiler, also remodelled. The wheel fairings have also disappeared from the rear end.
The racing teams involved can still design and develop their own electronic components and drive-chain parts, subject to regulations. Batteries and tyres remain common to all teams.
The new Formula E Gen2 EVO will be presented on the FIA stand at the 2020 GIMS on 3 March.
